Thames Water has admitted it did turn off the water supply to a large number of homes in a bid to fix a burst pipe in Kidlington.
Residents took issue with the company’s claim earlier today that it maintained water to homes near Grovelands and Chorefields in the village following a ruptured valve yesterday afternoon.
Spokesman Craig Rance said: “During our repair we had to turn off supply to 107 properties. We are very sorry for the inconvenience this caused.
“A valve on a water main in Lyne Road broke last night and our engineers went out to fix the leak.
"Unfortunately the valve is very close to a sewer pipe, so we decided that it was safer to come back and repair the valve during daylight.”
