HE HASN’T yet been appointed Professor of Cunning Plans at Oxford University, but Tony Robinson still had some of the city’s youngsters hanging on his every word.

The Blackaddder star and Time Team presenter visited Oxford’s Magdalen College School to talk about his series of history books for children.

Some 300 children turned out to hear his talk and get their books signed on Wednesday.

He said: “I had an absolutely fantastic time and there was a great crocodile of books-owners with their books to be signed.

“I would say only half of them knew about Blackadder but they all knew about Time Team. One sixth-former had been so inspired by it that he was going to study archaeology at Oxford University.”

Mr Robinson’s Weird World of Wonders series covers the Greeks, Romans and the British Empire. Two new books on inventions and the Second World War have just been published.
