Saira Khan talks to pupils at Wolvercote Primary School
APPRENTICE star Saira Khan spoke to pupils at Wolvercote Primary School about maths and managing money to launch a week of special activities.
The school’s ‘Maths in the real world week’ aims to show the children that maths is in every aspect of life.
Ms Khan, who lives in Oxford, said: “I am passionate about supporting my local primary school.
“I was asked to go in to show how maths is relevant to everyday life and I related it to money, where it comes from and how hard you have to work to get it.
“Being a CBBC presenter for Trade Your Way to the USA I feel it is important for youngsters to understand how to manage money.
“Starting at such a young age will give them confidence about handling money and it will also highlight to them the importance of saving it.”
Parents have been visiting the school during the week to talk about maths in their jobs and the children have been set daily maths challenges.
Ms Khan was runner-up on the BBC series The Apprentice in 2005.
