Have a say on shopping centre vision
10:30am Saturday 16th February 2013 in News
BOTLEY neighbours will soon be given a chance to have their say on the redevelopment of the West Way shopping area.
A series of public exhibitions have been scheduled to take place on Thursday, February 28, between 2pm and 7.30pm and on Saturday, March 2 between 11am and 3pm at Seacourt Hall.
The site has been bought by development company Doric Properties which is planning to knock down the site and build a cinema, supermarket, shops and new library.
Lindsay McCallum, a spokesman for Doric Properties, said: “We will have questionnaires and all our project team will be there to answer questions.
“This will be about the principles of the proposals and what people would like to see in Botley.”
Once these consultations have been completed the project team will begin designing the replacement for the existing shopping area.
Doric expects to hold further consultations on these designs in either May or June before submitting a planning application in the autumn.
It is hoped the redeveloped site will be open for business in either 2015 or 2016.
Doric unveiled its plans after signing an agreement with Vale of White Horse District Council and a consortium to purchase the land.
