Men deny arson at block of flats

Two men have denied arson over a fire at a block of flats in Wood Farm.
Daniel Spiers, 21, of Pegasus Road, Blackbird Leys, and his uncle Gary Spiers, 50, of Birchfield Close, Blackbird Leys, appeared in Oxford Magistrates’ Court on Thursday. They each pleaded not guilty and magistrates sent the case to Oxford Crown Court after hearing a summary of the evidence.
Residents of Foresters Tower in Wood Farm had to be evacuated following the blaze which started on the second floor on October 2 last year. The two men will now appear at a case management hearing on May 10.
