A SPECIALIST sports centre has raised more than £40,000 to fund new equipment for its gym.
Oxsrad, the Oxford and District Sports and Recreation Association for the Disabled, has unveiled three new treadmills, an upright bike and recumbant bike.
The money, raised through donations and fundraisers, has also paid for new projectors for the sensory room, a spa bath, new carpet and a MOTOmed – specialist movement therapy equipment for wheelchair users.
Paul Saxton, manager of the centre in Marston, said: “The new equipment has allowed able-bodied users to come back in to the centre.
“It has also allowed us to sort out the gym, and more of our disabled users are coming in.”
The centre, which has more than 1,200 members, has helped disabled Oxfordshire residents for more than 23 years.
To celebrate the centre’s fundraising success, a social evening is being held at the centre on Saturday.
Tickets are £7.
