End in sight for cigarette butts

TEMPLARS Square Shopping in Cowley is hoping to make discarded cigarette ends a thing of the past.

Nine new wall-mounted bins have been installed around “key” shops in the precinct.

They are situated outside Ladbrokes, the Co-operative Food store near the Between Towns Road façade, Nelson Public House and between Delight Kebab and Chicken Hut fast food outlets. They will be emptied and maintained by the businesses to help keep the area clear.

Eight new litter bins with cigarette attachments in the main shopping and bus stop areas have also been introduced.

Co-op manager Paul Young said: “We take pride in providing a quality shopping environment and this initiative will help.”

Agree with you 'sparro' - and maybe they should also ban sleeping by Councillors in Oxford City Council's Council Chamber - or isn't that already classed as 'vagrancy' ?
