Older men ‘collected girls from home for sex’
10:30am Thursday 28th February 2013 in News
A YOUNG woman has told the Old Bailey “older Asian males” would collect girls from her children’s home.
The witness, giving evidence at the Oxford sex exploitation trial, said her friend would go off with the men and return “bruised and dirty”.
The 21-year-old said she knew both Girl 2 and Girl 4, who have already given evidence alleging they were raped and sold for sex. She said Asian men in their 20s would wait in cars to collect other girls from the home.
She said Girl 2 would go with them “nearly every night”, adding: “She was hardly ever at home.”
When her friend returned she was a different person, she said. “There was no spirit in her.”
But she said Girl 2 went with the gang because “she wanted to be loved”. The witness, giving evidence from behind a curtain, also told the jury Anjum “Jammy” Dogar and his brother Akhtar used to “always” hang around with young girls in the Cowley Road area.
“Even up until a couple of years ago you would see them with young girls.”
Asked by Mohammed Karrar’s barrister, Tracy Ayling, why she had not told police about a sex assault on her by the Karrar brothers and two other men, she said: “What they did to these girls and hundreds of other girls is worse than what they did to me.”
She also said she felt “ashamed” and “degraded”.
The woman also said “Jammy” once “terrified” Girl 2 when he demanded she get off a bus because she “owed” him.
The nine defendants deny all 51 counts. The trial continues.
