Volunteers sought to help guide young minds
A GIRL Guides unit with a 30-strong waiting list is appealing for volunteer leaders.
The 1st Wallingford Guides, who recently celebrated their centenary, have a particular need for helpers in the five to 10-year age group.
Jenny Fanstone, Girl Guiding Wallingford District Commissioner, said: “Our Rainbow unit opened less than two years ago but already we have an extensive waiting list of girls old enough to join.
“There are probably about 30 in the area who we are struggling to accommodate.
“We have a particular need for Rainbow and Brownie leaders.”
Rainbows are girls aged five to seven, Brownies are seven to 10, and Guides are 10 to 14. They all meet at Wallingford Guide Hall at Fir Tree Junior School in Radnor Road.
Maddie Dudman, 10, from Wallingford, pictured far left with Hannah Pennet, and Amy Cole, both seven, was one of the Brownies who took part in a cooking session last Friday.
She said: “I really enjoy the games and the cooking and spending time with my friends.”
