A man had part of his ear bitten off in an “unprovoked” attack at a Banbury nightclub.
The 19-year-old was on the dance floor of the Sound Exchange in High Street, talking to a woman, when he was hit on his head several times and fell to the floor.
Police said during the incident, which happened about 12.30am today, part of the man's ear was bitten off.
He was taken to Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford for treatment.
Det Sgt Jim Holmes, of Thames Valley Police, is appealing for witnesses.
He said: “This was a violent and unprovoked assault which has left the victim requiring plastic surgery after part of his ear was bitten off.
“CCTV from the club shows the dance floor was crowded so there must be a number of people who saw the incident and I would urge them to come forward.”
Anyone with any information should call Det Sgt Holmes on the police inquiry line 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
Two men, aged 37 and 39, have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and remain in police custody.
