A HOODED robber who threatened an OAP Post Office worker with a knife has been given a suspended prison sentence.
Daniel Tuckey, 32, told police that the devil made him rob Littlemore Post Office in Cowley Road, on June 26, Oxford Crown Court was told.
Jeremy Barton, prosecuting, said Tuckey had a knife when he went into the branch.
He said the 70-year-old staff member didn’t seem aware of exactly what was going on, and turned and said ‘yes, excuse me please can I help you?’ Tuckey, of Hollow Way, Cowley, pointed at the till but then left and handed himself into police.
Mr Barton added: “He explained what he had done. He said the devil had told him to do these things.”
The woman was “concerned and scared” by the incident and Tuckey had a “history of psychological issues”, he said.
Tuckey admitted attempted robbery and possession of a bladed article.
Claire Evans, defending, said a psychiatrist’s evaluation found him fit to plead and added he “feels a lot better” since coming off medication.
