A34 lane will shut overnight for two weeks

CARS have damaged part of the A34 safety barrier to such an extent a major section needs to be replaced.

The Highways Agency will tonight begin overnight works on the parapet and barrier on the southbound carriageway over the southern bridge of the Peartree Interchange near Oxford.

Both need repairs to ensure the bridge remains in a safe and serviceable condition.

The work is expected to take two weeks, and will be carried out overnight between 9pm and 6am, Monday to Friday, when traffic is at its lightest.

During these hours there will be a lane closure on the A34 southbound carriageway and on the Peartree Interchange roundabout below the bridge. Access to and from the service area will be available throughout the works.

This has taken quite a while to fix. The dodgy temporary fence looks very flimsy.

Wasn't it a combine harvester that did the damage, not cars?
