THOUSANDS of bookworms will be descending on the city this weekend as the Oxford Literary Festival kicks off.
They will be filling many of the city’s most well-known venues, including the Bodleian Library, which is home to a wide range of historical manuscripts including a copy of the Magna Carta.
Festival director Sally Dunsmore said: “The Bodleian is the perfect venue to hold our events given that it could be said it is the birthplace of the book.
“This year we have got art critic Brian Sewell, historian Peter Hennessy and Tracy Chevalier all appearing there.”
The Oxford Literary Festival begins on Saturday and runs until Sunday, March 24.
