Police are on the move to new offices

WANTAGE Police Station is due to begin moving today to the Grove Technology Park.

Public counter services currently offered at the Church Street station will move to a building beside Wantage Library.

The new purpose-built headquarters in the technology park will not be open to the public. Front desk services at the new public office will be available Monday to Friday between 10am and 2pm.

The former station and the old Wantage Magistrates’ Court next door, which closed in 2009, are being marketed as a suitable site for housing.

The Wantage police team also took on a new recruit this month, PCSO Chris Ratcliff.

He has moved from the Thame police station and will take over responsibility for Childrey.

The station’s move does not involve any change in staff numbers or operations.

Nein, nein, nein? If the Police 'rationalise' services much more, we'll be getting call-centres in Mombai, and rapid-response teams bidding for each call-out on ebay!
