OXFORD United legends past and present will mingle with fans at a celebration aimed at bringing the club’s community together.
The event will officially launch fans’ group the Yellow Army and raise thousands of pounds to buy a new player in the January transfer window.
It will take place after the match against Chesterfield on September 21 and feature a six-a-side game between fans and former players, a barbecue and disco.
The aim of the day is to bring the entire club, from the chairman to the fans, together.
Trevor Lambert, of the Yellow Army, said: “We want to regain the spirit of the club, as it was at the Manor Ground.
“We are trying to bring everyone together – the fans, the first team players, management, owners and youth team – to share a great evening together.
“We are doing everything possible to get the maximum number of fans there to make it memorable.
“Back at the Manor, there was a supporters’ club and a clubhouse where after a game the players would go and meet fans.
“We are trying to recreate that, people doing something other than turning up just before 3pm and getting back in the car after the match.
“We want everybody to work together for the success of the club. A united club is a successful club.”
Yellows fans have so far raised £5,146 to buy the former full back’s Milk Cup and League Two winners medals, which will be kept at the Kassam Stadium for posterity.
Mr Langan was forced to sell his home after financial problems and plans to use the money raised to purchase a mobile home.
Straight after the game, the Yellow Army Day will take place at the club’s training ground off Roman Way, Cowley.
The event will be attended by members of the first team squad and management, development team, ladies team and ex-players.
Fans will get the chance to take part in a six-a-side competition which will feature past and present U’s stars Alan Judge, Anton Rogan, Andy Melville, Mickey Lewis, Chris Allen, Paul Wanless, Peter Rhoades Brown, Les Phillips and Joey Beauchamp.
There will also be a barbecue, disco and children’s entertainment including a rodeo surfer and bouncy castle, as well as an opportunity to have photos taken with Oxford United players and the club’s silverware.
All money raised, including profits from the bar, will go towards handing manager Chris Wilder a £20,000 transfer kitty in January.
Mr Lambert said: “What we are hoping to do is make a huge dent towards our goal of raising £20,000 by January, with the aim of getting an extra player into the first team.”
Doors will open at 6.15pm, allowing fans to head to the event straight after the final whistle at the Kassam Stadium, for a 7pm start.
Tickets cost £30 for adults, or £50 for two adults, and £10 for children aged seven to 14.
Entry to the six-a-side competition is £100 per team.
