All these ladies gave National Dance Day a go-go
5:00pm Saturday 24th August 2013 in News
ONE of the ladies in our picture used to dance on stage in London’s West End.
One of them had never been to a dance class before.
But on National Dance Day all of these ladies, residents at Richmond retirement village in Letcombe Regis, had a-go-go to see if they still can can. And they could.
Barbara Walsh said: “I had never been to a dance class before, but dancing is great for the legs and the memory.
“We have had a lot of laughs and learning the routines has given us all a great sense of achievement.”
The ladies learned two dance routines, one up-tempo tap dance and one modern lyrical routine, which they then performed in a special show in front of an audience of neighbours and staff at the care village.
Ann Milburn, 71, won a scholarship to a London drama school at the age of 11. At 12 she became one of the Ovalteeenies on Radio Luxembourg.
