THE bunting is up and final preparations are being made for the arrival of fairground rides in time for the first annual Littlemore Fayre.

Landlord of The George and grandfather-of-10 Nigel Woodley has been busy organising the day on Monday for the past year.

There will be rides including a bucking bronco, sumo wrestling and a bouncy castle at the pub in Sandford Road, Littlemore, between noon and 6pm.

Mr Woodley, 56, who took over the pub nearly a year ago, said he will be looking to run the Littlemore Fayre this year and every year.

Littlemore churches and groups have been invited to the fair, where they will have the opportunity to fundraise.

There will also be face painting and a barbecue in the garden.

Mr Woodley, who runs the pub with wife Gail, 51, said: “The main charity the George is sponsoring this year is Headway from Kennington.”

“There is so much bad press about pubs. This is all about being part of the community.

“I just thought it would be nice for the other side of the story. Yes pubs are closing every day but here is our pub supporting the community.”

The pub is asking families to donate £5 for children to get a wristband, which will go to brain injury charity Headway.

This will give the youngsters access to eight fairground rides for six hours.

The event is being opened by the Sheriff of Oxford Mohammed Abbasi at noon.
