Young masters learn moves at chess session
10:00am Thursday 29th August 2013 in News
CHESS player Joe Lamond contemplated his next move at the first of three training sessions aimed at improving the skills of budding chess players.
The 10-year-old from Oxford city centre, joined the group at St Giles’ Church to get hints and tips about playing the popular game from coaches Rod Nixon and David Longrigg. Joe said: “I found it really enjoyable.
“I play quite regularly – at one point I was playing every day.
“I think it helped me improve, I had a lot of analysis of my games and some people gave me very good tips.”
The next two training sessions are today and Friday, both from 10am-noon at the church in Woodstock Road.
All children welcome.
