Scheme leads to big drop in reoffending
11:00am Monday 23rd September 2013 in News
A SCHEME to tackle crime has seen incidents of reoffending fall by 54 per cent in the first six months of the year, compared to the same period last year.
In August, the Oxford Mail reported that there were 82 Oxfordshire criminals on the Integrated Offender Management scheme.
This scheme – used by Thames Valley Probation Trust – aims to secure housing, employment, or help with drug and alcohol addiction, with a view to reduce repeat offending. The criminals in the scheme are closely monitored and if they reoffend, they are arrested and taken to prison.
