Artist captures city's charms

OXFORD’S crowds tempted a Warwickshire-based artist to drive a 140-mile round trip to capture the city’s charms.
Professional artist Gerald Green named Oxford among his favourite places to paint — not for its dreaming spires, but for the people.
He set up camp in High Street and the Covered Market on Thursday to paint the city’s scene in oil.
The 66-year-old artist of 30 years, from Nuneaton, said: “It is the movement, the noise, the activity and the business.
“I like working in the middle of it all — that allows you to capture the essence of Oxford rather than sitting in the comfort of your own home.
“I like to tuck myself out the way and paint, it’s a passion.”
