Witney splash park campaign group seeks supporters
A PUBLIC meeting will be held in Witney next week to encourage people to have their say on plans to create a splash park and play area at The Leys.
Newly-formed campaign group Liven Up The Leys is organising the meeting at the Langdale Hall.
Last month, Witney Town Council revealed three possible designs for the splash park, drawn up by leisure consultants.
The group, which is working in partnership with the council, is applying to become a charity. It was formed to help ensure the views of residents are fed into the project, and to help raise funds.
The council announced on Monday that it had applied for £75,000 of funding from landfill tax grants body Wren.
Liven Up The Leys chairman Kelly Hale said: “This is such an exciting project for the town, but in order for it to succeed we need people to support what we’re doing.
“Please come along to our meeting to find out more about the plans and how you can get involved.
“If you can’t make it, we would really appreciate you taking two minutes to fill in our online survey or to send us a quick email of support to help us prove to potential funders that this project has the backing of local people.”
The meeting takes place next Wednesday at 7.30pm.
