Mum and friends aim high to help Gabriel
6:00pm Saturday 5th October 2013 in News
A group of family and friends are taking their fundraising to new heights with a skydive today.
Mum Paula Masih-Gill is one of five taking part in the stomach-churning feat for her son Gabriel, 13, who has cerebral palsy.
Gabriel’s family is raising cash for a selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) operation at a hospital in Missouri, the United States, which will help him walk properly for the first time.
They need to raise £58,000 in total, but hope to raise £2,000 with this challenge.
Mrs Masih-Gill, of Stowford Road, Headington, said: “I am petrified. Me and my cousin Sammy are really frightened but the other three don’t mind.
“I am going first to get it over with. We are on target to push our total over £5,000. We are overwhelmed, we couldn’t believe it.”
Mrs Masih-Gill will be joined by her cousin Sammy Webster-Moore, brother-in-law Richard Gibbs and friends Duane Street-Webster and David Clarke.
They are doing the skydive at Hinton Skydiving Centre in Brackley near Banbury.
