Millions of older people with joint pain are set to be helped by a new research centre in Oxford.
Oxford University’s £5.5m Arthritis Research UK Centre for Osteoarthritis Pathogenesis will bring together the highest concentration of osteoarthritis researchers in Europe.
The centre is based at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, in Old Road, Headington, which has strong links to the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, the university’s Functional MRI Centre and the Medical Research Council Unit at Harwell.
Researchers will be conducting studies with people who have recently suffered acute knee injuries who are at increased risks of getting osteoarthritis.
