Cases heard recently by Oxfordshire magistrates

OXFORD

David Cooper, 50, of Isis Close, Abingdon, admitted drink-driving in Wantage Road, Rowstock, on September 24. Had 68 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath, above the legal limit of 35 micrograms. Fined £400, a £40 victims’ surcharge, and £85 costs. Banned from driving for 18 months.

Ziluimas Staneuickis, 37, of Cowley Road, Oxford, admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words of behaviour, or disorderly behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm, or distress in Oxford on September 21. Given a six-month conditional discharge and told to pay a £15 victims’ surcharge and £40 costs.

Winifred Ward, 19, of Alice Smith Square, Littlemore, Oxford, admitted shoplifting clothing worth £33 from Mothercare in Oxford Retail Park, Ambassador Avenue, Cowley, Oxford, on September 12. Given a 12-month conditional discharge and told to pay a £15 victims’ surcharge.

Keith Grehan, 34, of Colwell Road, Berinsfield, convicted of assault by beating in Headley Way, Headington, Oxford, on May 19. Also convicted of theft by finding after stealing a key, a fob, a fuel card, and a red bag belonging to Thames Valley Police in St Aldate’s police station, Oxford, on May 19. Given a four-month prison sentence suspended for 24 months. Told to pay £150 compensation and £300 costs.

 

Andrew Nesbitt, 35, of Troika Close, Banbury, admitted shoplifting Smirnoff Vodka worth £16.99 from Co-op in Templars Square, Cowley, Oxford, on August 13. Stole two packs of Stella lager worth £21.98 from Co-op in Ruscote Arcade, Banbury, on June 15. Stole a bottle of Echo Falls wine worth £7.20 from the Esso service station in Ermont Way, Banbury on May 30 and shoplifted two bottles of Pimms worth £31.98 from Co-op in Middleton Road, Banbury on May 30. Stole a crate of Stella Artois and meat products worth a total of £43 in Banbury on October 4 and shoplifted a two litre bottle of cider worth £4.55 from Co-op in Banbury on October 7. Also admitted possession of Class A drug heroin and Class B drug cannabis in Luther Street, Oxford, on July 19. Sent to prison for eight weeks due to criminal record.

Jake Smith, 23, of St Mary’s Green, Abingdon, admitted shoplifting four magazines worth a total of £7.20 from One Stop Shop in Wootton, Abingdon on August 27. Fined £100 and a £20 victims’ surcharge.

John Evans, 36, of Godstow Road, Wolvercote, Oxford, admitted drink-driving in East Avenue, Oxford, on August 8. Had 143 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of blood, above the legal limit of 80 micrograms. Fined £480, a £48 victims’ surcharge, and £85 costs. Banned from driving for 36 months.

Justin Poulter, 33, of Elmhurst Way, Carterton, admitted possession of three small deal bags of cannabis at Elsfield, Oxford, on September 8. Given a 12-month conditional discharge, and told to pay a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.

Jamie Weaving, 28, of Springfield Road, Wantage, admitted shoplifting a block of cheese and two bottles of wine from Sainsbury’s in Limborough Road, Wantage on September 11. Fined £50, a £20 victims’ surcharge, and £85 costs.

Ricky Barrett, 31, of Holland Place, Wood Farm, Oxford admitted assault by beating in London Road, Headington, Oxford, on October 7. Sent to prison for 36 days and banned from The Royal Standard pub in Headington, Oxford, for two years.

Christopher Bloore, 20, of Mayfield Avenue, Grove, Wantage, admitted failing to provide a breath specimen for analysis at Abingdon police station in Colwell Drive, Abingdon on June 30. Fined £520, a £52 victims’ surcharge, and £600 costs. Banned from driving for 40 months.

Christian Rwavyuma, 23, of Gaisford Road, Oxford, admitted possession of cannabis in St Aldate’s police station, Oxford, on June 29. Fined £100, a £20 victims’ surcharge, and £85 costs.

Karen Wandless, of The Avenue, Kennington, admitted drink-driving in Playfield Road, Kennington on June 26. Had 84 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath, above the legal limit of 35 micrograms. Fined £500, a £50 victims’ surcharge, and £85 costs. Licence endorsed with 11 points. No ban.

BANBURY

Schelby-Derrick Brady, 22, of Park Road, Banbury, admitted possessing cannabis, a Class B drug, in Spiceball Park Car Park, Spiceball Park Road, Banbury, on September 26. Fined £75 and told to pay a 320 victims’ surcharge and £25 costs.

Phillip Houton, 40, of Edmunds Road, Banbury, admitted causing criminal damage to glass in an external door in Banbury on September 30. Also admitted commiting a further offence while subject to a conditional discharge made on January 23 by Banbury Magistrates’ Court for assault by beating. Fined £135 and told to pay £100 compensation, a £20 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.

Claire King, 36, of Shilton Road, Carterton, admitted drink driving in Monahan Way on September 2. Had 97 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath, above the legal limit of 35 micrograms. Given a 26-month driving ban and made subject to a community order with 40 hours of unpaid work. Told to pay a £60 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.

Arran Gundry, 38, of Windrush, Banbury, admitted racially aggravated assault by beating and using racially aggravated words or behaviour within the sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress in Banbury on August 29. Given a two-month prison sentence suspended for 24 months with supervision requirement for 24 months and 36-day domestic violence course requirement. Told to pay an £80 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.

Robert Poynter, 25, of West Street, Banbury, admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress in Banbury on September 27. Given a six-month conditional discharge and told to pay £100 compensation, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £20 costs.

Paul Williams, 45, of Gatteridge Street, Banbury, admitted stealing meat worth £60.93 from Marks and Spencer in Bridge Street, Banbury, on October 13. Fined £50 and told to pay a £20 victims’ surcharge.

Karl Kuhne, 35, of The Red House, Bodicote, near Banbury, admitted drink driving, driving without insurance and driving without a licence in Jerome Way, Shipton-on-Cherwell, on September 14. Had 86 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath, above the legal limit of 35 micrograms. Given a 22-month driving ban. Fined £200 and told to pay a £20 victims’ surcharge and £20 costs.

Alan Watts, 32, of Forget Me Not Way, Oxford, admitted failing to give information as to the identity of a driver of a vehicle when required in Banbury between January 30 and February 27. Given a six-month driving ban and told to pay a £60 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.

Samuel Cooper, 21, of Valence Crescent, Witney, admitted failing to answer court or police bail as soon as practicable in Abingdon on October 13 by failing to report to Abingdon Police Station. Fined £50 and told to pay a £20 victims’ surcharge.
