Campaigners lose judicial review bid over student accommodation built at Castle Mill
5:28pm Wednesday 23rd October 2013 in News
A HIGH Court judge has today thrown out a judicial review bid into the controversial Castle Mill buildings.
Oxford University has built accommodation for more than 300 students next to Port Meadow but this has been widely criticised for blocking off views of the "dreaming spires".
The Oxfordshire branch of the Campaign to Protect Rural England had tried to have a discontinuance order issued, which would have prevented use of the land.
But Mr Justice Lewis, sitting at the High Court in Birmingham, said this would not be necessary, because the city council was already in the process of rectifying the situation.
