The owner of five scrapyards has told a jury there was nothing unusual about metal sold by undercover police officers.
Mark Williams gave evidence yesterday in the trial of five men accused of attempting to conceal, disguise or convert criminal property at TR Rogers and Sons, in Nuneham Courtenay.
The Scottish businessman said it would be “totally normal” for his yards to accept the kind of cables and lead brought in between March and May last year by police officers posing as thieves.
Terence Rogers, 70, of High Street, Drayton St Leonard; Simon Rogers, 42, of Bromsgrove, Faringdon; Martin Pace, 36, of Brookmead Drive, Wallingford; Ian Marshall, 29, of Evenlode Drive, Berinsfield, and Darren Andrews, 34, of Colwell Road, Berinsfield, all deny the charges.
