ITALY and Brazil have nothing on one of Oxfordshire’s restaurants according to travellers who voted it among the world’s finest.
Travellers’ website TripAdvisor has ranked Great Milton’s Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons as the sixth best on the planet.
While fine dining in New York, France, Spain and China pipped it to the post, Le Manoir is top in the UK, above Gidleigh Park in Chagford, Devon, and Petrus in London, and fifth in Europe.
Of the website’s 681 reviews, 575 rated it excellent, 58 very good, 32 average, 14 poor and two ranked it “terrible”.
Sample menus include a nine-course £154 notre menu découverte for a “longer gastronomic experience”.
Steven Pollock wrote on the site: “I knew it would cost a lot but I have to say it was worth every penny, our room was a delight and dinner amazing.”
Mr Blanc, who opened the eaterie in 1984, said: “To be recognised as the leading Travellers’ Choice Favourite Fine Dining Restaurant in the UK and ranked so highly worldwide, is a huge achievement for my team and I at Le Manoir.”
