A VISITOR information centre in West Oxfordshire has been given its second green award this year.
Burford’s information centre was highly commended at Tourism South East’s Beautiful South awards for sustainable tourism on Thursday.
Earlier this year the centre in the High Street achieved a silver rating from the national Green Tourism Business Scheme for eco-friendliness.
The centre is one of two run by West Oxfordshire District Council.
Council cabinet member Richard Langridge said: “We are delighted that Burford Visitor Centre has been recognised with another prestigious award for their work.
“The centre encourages visitors to act in an environmentally-friendly way during their stay and helps to safeguard the beautiful environment.”
Tourism is estimated to be worth around £260m to West Oxfordshire, employing 4,800 people — 12.4 per cent of the workforce.
