FRIENDS Enid Godfrey and Yvonne Bayliss tucked into a festive feast served up by Oxford’s Big Bang restaurant.

The free lunch fed more than 130 elderly people at the restaurant in Oxford Castle, and a similar number were catered for at the Jam Factory.

Northway resident Enid Godfrey, 86, said: “It was very nice and I really enjoyed it. We had bangers and mash, followed by a chocolate gateau. I hope they do it again next year.”

Big Bang owner Max Mason said it had been a “fabulous” event.

He said: “Both myself and Andrew Norton from the Jam Factory had more than 130 people each. Andrew started it four years ago and we’ve been doing it for two years.

“Age UK search the county for willing elders, who are then invited for a free lunch and we had a massive turn out.

“It’s exhausting and a heavy financial burden for us, but it’s a fantastic thing to do.”
