A LAWYER from Chad has been cleared of one count of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl on a city bus.
But the jury in the Oxford Crown Court trial of Haroun Mahamat Akai – formerly of Evans Court, Kidlington, but now staying in Perth Road, Dundee, Scotland – has not yet reached a verdict on a second count of sexual assault.
The offence is alleged to have taken place in Banbury Road, Oxford, on August 12 this year.
He was acquitted of a separate charge that was alleged to have taken place on a bus earlier on the same day.
The 30-year-old was studying English in Oxford at the time and admits kissing the complainant on the cheek, but denies sexually assaulting her.
The jury will continue deliberating on Monday morning.
