ALMOST 1,000 people attended the annual Lights of Love service in aid of Sobell House Hospice in Oxford.

The service, at the hospice based at Churchill Hospital in Headington, took place on Saturday.

It included music from the Oxford Gospel Choir and the Jubilee Brass Band.

There were also songs and poems written by patients at the hospice.

Hospice fundraiser Lindsay Manifold said: “As well as being a brilliant fundraising event for the hospice, it is also a very moving and emotional service.

“It gives people the opportunity to have a message on the Lights of Love tree to remember someone they care about and are missing over the Christmas period.

“We light the tree during the service, and the lights shine over Christmas. Volunteers give up their time to make it possible.”
