Roadworks at the junction of Botley Road and Ferry Hinksey Road should be completed before the evening rush hour, Southern Gas Networks has said.
The company moved in yesterday to carry out emergency repairs after a gas leak from one of its pipes.
The temporary traffic lights used by the workmen yesterday caused tailbacks down Botley Road to the Botley Interchance, into the city and down the Osney Mead industrial estate.
Southern Gas Networks spokeswoman Chloe Boyce said: “There are two stages to the roadworks, and we have completed the repairs overnight.
“As of this morning, we have started the reinstatement, and all being well, if the concrete sets properly, we are hoping to be done by the rush hour.
“We would like to thank everybody for their continued patience and apologies for any inconvenience caused.”
