A FESTIVE treat will come to Witney as a three-day market sets up in the town square.

The Christmas market, the first of its kind to be held in the town, will be held in the Market Square from Sunday to Christmas Eve.

Stalls will include culinary treats plus crafts, clothing and accessories.

Paul Kennedy from organisers, The Market Square Group, said: “We are delighted to have been asked to provide this exciting and magical event and look forward to bringing our popular festive market to Witney.”

Town mayor Peter Dorward, said: “I am very excited that, for the first time, Witney will host a market of this kind over the festive period.

“It’s a welcome addition to the great range of national and independent shops and places to eat and drink.

“I am sure, that with the town’s free parking, this market will prove to be a boost for the high street, traders and residents alike.”

The market will run from 9am and close at 7pm on Sunday and Monday but will close at 4pm on Christmas Eve.

I wonder if all the shopkeepers will complain about it like they did in Oxford?

Went into Witney for the market today and no sign off it. Seems thatthat the stall holders that were there yesterday have all given up. Perhaps they expected better weather in December :-(
