A WOMAN has won an annual family pass to Blenheim Palace after pledging to recycle more.

Oxfordshire Waste Partnership teamed up with the historic estate to offer unlimited visits for a family if they submitted plans to increase the range of waste they could recycle.

Patricia Sutcliffe, from Wallingford, made a pledge to recycle drinks cartons and was November’s winner.

She said: “I am a very keen recycler but sometimes am not sure about certain materials.

“When I found out that drinks cartons could be recycled I made a pledge to make sure they all go into the right bin, and am delighted to have won the prize.”’ Councillor David Dodds is chairman of Oxfordshire Waste Partnership and said: “There are so many things which can be recycled in Oxfordshire.

“In addition to the well-known things like paper, plastic bottles and cans we also collect batteries, aerosols and foil.

“With it costing around £1,000 for every lorry load of rubbish we send to landfill, recycling as much as possible benefits all Oxfordshire residents as well as the environment.”

There are still chances to win as a draw will be carried out every month until February 2014.

Pledges can be made at oxfordshirewaste.gov.uk/recycle 1morething or by sending your name, address and what you pledge to recycle to FREEPOST RSCJ-BHGB-BKSG, Oxfordshire Waste Partnership, Thorpe Lane Depot, Banbury, OX16 4UT.
