MORE than £1,000 has been raised for charity after crowds packed Dorchester Abbey for the annual Christmas carol concert.

About 200 people attended the concert at Dorchester Abbey raising money for fostering and adoption charity Parents And Children Together (PACT), which opened its Oxford base in Watlington Road in July.

A children’s tea party with mince pies and drinks kicked off the celebrations before the concert with classic Christmas carols.

Nadia Weisz, five, said: “I really really enjoyed playing with my friends in the abbey at tea-time.”

Mum Ruth Wells, 40, from Dorchester-on-Thames said of Sunday’s event: “It was lovely. It made us feel really Christmassy and raised lots of money.

“PACT is an important charity for me because my family adopted my brother when I was younger and I know they support families who adopt.”

The money raised will go towards therapeutic support services for adopted and fostered children.
