Six people suspected of planning and committing a series of robberies on security vans were arrested this morning.

At about 6.30am, Thames Valley Police officers, the Metropolitan Police and the Flying Squad carried out raids at 16 addresses in Oxford, Lambeth, Croydon, Hillingdon and Uxbridge.

Those arrested are suspected of being gang members who committed at least seven robberies of cash from security vans, including one at NatWest in Cowley Road, Oxford, on April 23 this year.

The robberies took place between October last and November.

Those arrested are also suspected of carrying out a robbery at Lloyds Bank in Stokenchurch on Monday, December 9.

Five men and one woman, all in their thirties, are in custody at a west London police station.
