TEENAGE motorcycle apprentice Jack Drummond is celebrating after winning a top national award.

Mr Drummond, 19, was named Parts Apprentice of the Year at a ceremony run by industry giant Honda.

The accolade is a major achievement for the 19-year-old from Didcot, who works at the Honda Blade dealership in Abingdon. He was one of 79 people who completed a Honda (UK) apprenticeship this year.

He said: “I’m pleased to have won and I would like to thank everyone from Blade Honda Abingdon, the Honda Institute and my friends and family for their support. It’s been hard work and a real challenge but I’ve loved every minute of it.”

The Apprentice of the Year award is given to the candidate who excels in their specialist area, with nominations taken from Honda’s trainers, assessors and managers.

Nominations are judged against specific criteria and the overall winner is decided by the apprentice programme management team.

Keith Diplock, parts manager at Blade Honda Abingdon, said: “I’m incredibly proud of what Jack has achieved.

“He’s hard working, committed and a great asset. He deserves this recognition.”

Philip Crossman, managing director of Honda (UK), added: “Jack is mature beyond his years, a great character and a thoughtful and attentive learner.”
