TALENTED teens have been busy raising money for Helen and Douglas House hospice.

Year 12 students from Oxford Spires Academy put on a show for East Oxford children and young people’s hospice as part of their National Citizen Service Programme.

Teenagers from the school in Glanville Road were joined by other students from Activate Learning — the new name for Oxford and Cherwell Valley College – for the event which raised more than £200.

Kyle Fairns, 16, performed the Green Day hit Boulevard of Broken Dreams with his friend, Michael Egbe, on guitar.

Kyle said: “I want to try and audition for X Factor next year. I really enjoy singing. But it is only my back-up plan. I will do something like forensics or be a doctor if not because I want to be able to help people.’’

Students Rama Said and Caique Sanz hosted the event. Caique said: “It was really fun. I was quite nervous, I hadn’t done anything like this for a while but it went well.”
