POLICE have put up signs ordering people not to park on side streets as Boxing Day traffic to Bicester Village builds.

This morning, there are delays of up to 30 minutes as shoppers queue.

Tailbacks into the retail park are snaking all the way back to the M40 roundabout.

Motorists have been queuing from early this morning for the Boxing Day rush to Bicester Village.

Shoppers were queuing to get into the retail park - one of the biggest of its kind in Europe - from 6.30am.

One shopper going by the name of demetrizia posted a message on Twitter at around 8am to say: "The traffic into Bicester Village is insane."

Another, KatieHaley_, made a similar point at around 8.30am, tweeting: "Bicester village is so busy!"

Rail operator Chiltern said earlier this year it would run trains on Boxing Day between Bicester and London Marylebone that could ease congestion at Bicester Village.

Traffic clogging the town’s roads has been a problem for the past two Boxing Days.

In the past, people have abandoned cars on the A41 and parked on verges the length of Kings Avenue, into Chalvey Road and Ray Road, blocking residential roads.
