A road in Kidlington was shut after a sewage pipe burst, flooding the road and gardens.
Thames Water said they were hoping to fix the pipe and re-open Cherwell Avenue this morning.
Neighbours said they first noticed sewage appearing on Friday.
Great grandmother-of-three Brenda Williams, 85, of Cherwell Avenue, said it was the third time in 12 months sewage had flooded her garden.
Thames Water spokeswoman Sarah Sharpe said officers had been trying to repair the pipe since 4am on Saturday, but flooding from the River Cherwell had got into the pipes, delaying work.
