A STOLEN car found by police almost 100 miles away has been reunited with its owner.

Burglars raided Mick Partlett Car Sales in Witney and took the blue Renault Clio 1.6GT on November 13.

Police later found the £6,500 car near Wolverhampton and returned it to Mr Partlett's Station Lane garage the week before Christmas.

Mr Partlett said: “The phone call from the police to say they found it was out of the blue.

“It is really lucky. I didn’t think I’d ever see it again.

“I’m really happy to have it back, and pleased it only had about £50 worth of damage.

“We had to have it repainted but other than that it was OK.”

Mr Partlett said he had been worried that his insurer would not pay out, because the car keys had been left inside.

Charity collection boxes, number plates and invoice pads were also taken in the raid.

The car had been sold to a buyer in Swindon who was due to pick it up three days after it was taken.

Police spokesman James Williams could not say if any arrests had been made in connection with the theft.
