A NURSE threatened an autistic girl who was trying to use the toilet, telling her she was was “naughty” and was “going to get it”, a hearing was told yesterday.

Lucy Hasker was overheard using “strong language” to the girl, known as Patient C, who was left in tears, the Nursing and Midwifery Council heard.

Hasker is facing a number of allegations relating to her employment with a trust set up by Patient C’s parents and also during her employment at Helen & Douglas House Hospice in Oxford.

The panel heard from colleague Theresa Jones who claimed Hasker had been verbally abusive and threatening towards Patient C, who had challenging behaviour. Investigator Karen Beard said the colleague saw Hasker kissing the patient on the lips.

Hasker was partly working for the trust set up by the patient’s parents while working at Helen & Douglas House.

It is further alleged that while employed at Helen & Douglas House between 2009 and 2012 Hasker failed to demonstrate the skills, knowledge and judgement required to work as a nurse without supervision.

Hasker, who no longer works at the hospice, has admitted failing to make a record of receiving the drug Fentanyl Abstral in December, 2009 and failing to administer four drugs to a patient at the hospice in July 2010 and administering a drug without prescription in September 2010. A further allegation that she was not able to co-ordinate a shift on multiple occasions was also admitted.

The allegations relating to her behaviour towards Patient C, did not take place at Helen & Douglas House, and were denied.

The hearing continues.
