JANUARY is when many people dust off the trainers to get fit. And city councillor Mark Lygo has been demonstrating the benefits on new state-of-the-art gym equipment in Cowley Marsh park.
The new fitness trail covers approximately 1km and has multiple exercise stations located at intervals so people can run on grass or paths from station to station.
Each station has signs showing people how to use the equipment and distance markers along the routes help to measure a run.
The trail is part of a £160,000 programme in partnership with Groundwork South to deliver five fitness trails across the city.
Cllr Lygo, board member for parks, sport and events, said: “The Fitness Trail in Cowley is a great feature for this popular park, providing new opportunities for our city’s residents to take time out of their busy day to take part in exercise out in the fresh air.”
Consultation is under way for similar trails at South Park and across Blackbird and Greater Leys.
