Dancers turn back clock to get into the swing of things

DANCERS have been stepping back in time at classes held at an Oxford pub.

The Mitre in High Street has been hosting the 1920s and 1930s dance lessons and social meets for more than a year now.

Held every Tuesday from 7.30pm to 11pm, the evening sees dancers get an hour-long lesson followed by a social dance session.

Instructor Cassiope Sydoriak said the classes were a good chance to socialise, listen to good music, and get some exercise. And she said more than 10 people came along every week.

She said: “The whole idea is people can come and learn but also spend some time chatting and dancing.

“It is really fun because you get to meet everyone. Dance is like conversation without words so you can communicate with people in a way you would not usually.
