Cars negotiate Botley Road floods

A SIGN put up by retailer Carpet Right in Botley Road, Oxford, was taken down yesterday after angry residents took to Twitter to criticise the shop.

One resident described the retailer as the “villains” of the flooding crisis for placing a sign outside the shop which said that parking was for customers only and any vehicles left in the car park all day could be “removed without warning”.

But a spokesman for Carpet Right said: “We put the signs up when Seacourt was closed because it was rammed full. We were not being mean-spirited and it was made clear that residents who were flooded were able to use the car park.” Carpet Right remained closed yesterday.
