BURNS Night is tonight, but these pensioners got out the haggis a day early to honour the Scottish celebration yesterday.
Pipe Major Steve Duffy, who is also a Detective Inspector with Thames Valley Police, served the traditional Scottish meal and played the bagpipes for residents of Bicester’s Langford View Care Centre.
Burns Night celebrates the life of Scots poet Robert Burns.
Wearing a kilt, Mr Duffy ‘piped in’ the haggis by playing the bagpipes while the meal entered the room, and also performed the Selkirk Grace, a prayer that is attributed to Burns.
Ellen Burnside, 80, having just enjoyed dancing to the bagpipes, said: “That was marvellous, I’m so excited. It’s made me very happy.”
