THE timing of George Osborne’s visit yesterday was timely in more ways than one.

The Chancellor was here to announce £67m investment in the science sector.

It coincided with Oxfordshire County Council sitting down to swing its scythe at its budget to the tune of £64m.

However, the announcement of growth figures for the economy show that, while the county’s cuts show we are not out of the woods yet, hopefully there is light at the end of the tunnel – and it is probably not a train coming the other way.
