TOWN councillors in Didcot will stage talks with the town’s branch of the Royal British Legion to decide how best to mark the centenary of World War One.
Town councillor Neville Harris has suggested that in addition to the support given to the legion on Remembrance Day, a working group could also be set up to discuss how best to remember those who lost their lives from 1914 to 1918.
According to Mr Harris, the group could include representatives from the community and service groups and associations.
It could include the provision of a memory book for residents and visitors to sign and make comments in.
Following a meeting of the town council’s finance and general purposes committee on Monday, councillors agreed to consult the local branch of the legion before arriving at any decision.
Town council leader Margaret Davies said: “Members of the RBL are our existing partners in commemorating military events and we need to ask them what their plans are.”
