Scientists at Oxford University have discovered that a small area of the brain is a key element to what separates humans from monkeys.

The team from Oxford University found after conducting MRI scans that 11 of the 12 regions of a part of the brain were similar in both monkeys and humans. However, one section linked to decision-making was found to be distinctly human.

The findings, which may aid further research into the causes of ADHD, drug addiction or compulsive behaviour, have been reported in the latest edition of the journal Neuron.
