TWO fire engines were called to a fire at Yo Sushi restaurant in Oxford this morning.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue said it was called to the fire in the George Street restaurant’s bin room at 8.46am.

Firefighters left the scene by 9.30am.

No one is thought to have been hurt.

Happily, it seems, no-one was hurt, so I am less reluctant to make what might be thought a frivolous comment. Chain restaurants like this foist their standardised shop fronts willy-nilly on towns and cities across the land, with scant regard for aesthetics. But I should have thought that anyone with the slightest knowledge of Oxford would know that the accompanying photograph is not (nor could it be,even in the jejune dross of George Street)
taken in Oxford. Does the Oxford Mail no longer employ people who know the city?

I was about to say the same thing! OXFORD mail can't even take a picture of a place in central OXFORD!!!
